Garbage bin box 120 liters: three models for 1 to 6 boxes
A garbage bin box 120 liters stores your 120-liter bins, such as residual waste, organic, paper, or yellow bag, behind a neat front instead of openly by the house wall. At BIO Stefan, you can get this garbage bin enclosure in three models and in every size from the 1 box to the 6 boxes series: Dagobert made of powder-coated steel as a compact and especially lightweight option, Stahlfred as a solid steel classic, and Holzmichl with a genuine spruce wood front in a steel frame.
All three models are lockable, weatherproof, and can be expanded later in the same color tone. Anthracite (RAL 7016) is the most affordable standard color at BIO Stefan; additional RAL shades are optionally configurable for an extra charge. Delivery is as a flatpack on a pallet, and assembly is easy with a wrench and cordless screwdriver.

Garbage bin box 120 liters: dimensions and clear width
A 120-liter bin is slimmer than a 240-liter bin, so the garbage bin box for 120 liters per bin is more compact. For the Dagobert, the 1 box measures about 59 cm wide, 68 cm deep, and 114 cm high, while the 2 boxes version is about 118 cm wide. For Stahlfred and Holzmichl, the 2 boxes are about 128 cm wide, 80 cm deep, and 120 cm high (125.5 cm with plant roof). Allow some extra space on the side of the parking spot so you can fully open the doors.

Advantages of the 120-liter garbage bin box
Sturdy steel body: With Dagobert, Stahlfred, and Holzmichl, hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating keep corrosion and UV radiation out permanently.
Real wood instead of foil (Holzmichl): Natural spruce wood boards are set in the powder-coated steel frame and can be individually painted or oiled.
Light and compact (Dagobert): With a starter pack weight of around 22 kg, the Dagobert is the most handy 120-liter box, ideal for narrow spaces.
Lockable: Toggle lock with retrofittable key lock on Dagobert, central lock on Stahlfred and Holzmichl.
Soft opening: Gas pressure dampers on the lid prevent slamming; on Stahlfred and Holzmichl, the lid also closes gently thanks to impact dampers.
Height-adjustable feet (Stahlfred & Holzmichl): Compensate for unevenness on paving or lawn edges with 15 to 60 mm adjustment range. It’s best to place the Dagobert on as flat a surface as possible.
Flatpack delivery: Delivered disassembled on a pallet, pre-drilled parts and an illustrated manual make assembly predictable.
Expandable: You can later turn your 120-liter box into a longer row in the same color by ordering additional extension elements.
120 Liter Garbage Bin Box Made of Steel or with Wooden Front: Which Model Suits You?
Each material has its strengths. Steel is sturdy, low-maintenance, and affordable, while a wooden front feels warm and natural. Which model suits you depends on style, location, and budget.
Steel models like Dagobert and Stahlfred are the lowest-maintenance options and are well suited for single-family homes as well as multi-family houses. Holzmichl combines the stability of a steel frame with a real wood front that can be color-coordinated with fences, terraces, or facades. For those who want a steel box with a wood look but without real wood, the Dagobert with an optional Golden Oak wood-look front is the choice.
Flip lid or plant roof for your 120-liter box?
The flip lid (automatic lid) opens with gas pressure dampers and can be opened synchronously with your trash bin via a connecting chain, allowing you to deposit trash without pulling out the bin. This roof option is available for all three models.
With the plant roof, instead of the flip lid, a flat planting tray with a slight tilt sits on top, providing space for succulents, herbs, or summer flowers. Dagobert, Stahlfred, and Holzmichl are available with both roof options. The height increases by a few centimeters with the plant roof, so plan accordingly if placing it under a porch.
Is a 120-liter garbage bin box subject to approval?
In Austria and Germany, a garbage bin box is usually exempt from procedures and is not considered a structural facility in the traditional sense. The decisive factor is always the respective federal state or municipality, especially for visible front gardens or multi-family houses. If in doubt, briefly check with the local building authority; very often, installation is allowed without any approval.
Easy to assemble yourself: Flatpack delivery
All 120-liter garbage bin boxes come disassembled as flatpacks on a pallet. Pre-drilled parts and an illustrated manual make assembly predictable. The delivery includes the respective locking mechanism, all fastening parts, and the assembly instructions: for Stahlfred and Holzmichl, the central lock is included, while for Dagobert, the toggle lock is standard and a key lock can be optionally retrofitted. You only need a wrench and a cordless screwdriver. Alternatively, you can see all models in our showroom in Leonding near Linz in person.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Care for your 120-liter garbage bin box
The steel models are largely maintenance-free. You can clean powder-coated surfaces as needed with lukewarm water, a soft sponge, and a mild cleaner. For the Holzmichl front, you can treat the spruce wood boards every one to two years with transparent wood stain or wood oil; this is not necessary, it is a matter of style.
