With a garbage bin box with a hinged lid, you lift the lid, throw in the waste, and let it fall closed again. You only need the front door when the garbage bin has to be taken out for collection, so only rarely instead of several times a day. That is exactly what makes the hinged lid the most practical roof option for everyday use.
You can get all four BIO Stefan lines with a hinged lid: Dagobert made of galvanized sheet steel, Stahlfred made of hot-dip galvanized steel, Alubert made of aluminum with stainless steel fittings, and Holzmichl with a genuine spruce wood front. Each of these garbage bin enclosures is weather-resistant, robust, and built for long-term outdoor use. They are available for 120-liter and 240-liter garbage bins, from the 1 box to the 6 boxes.
The lid keeps rain, leaves, and snow away from the bins and conceals the bin lids that would otherwise protrude above the box. On every line, it operates with gas pressure dampers: It is easy to lift, stays open, and does not slam shut when closing.
What makes the hinged lid special in detail
Gas pressure dampers: With Dagobert, Alubert, Stahlfred and Holzmichl, the lid opens softly and stays raised. You have both hands free to dispose of waste.
Impact dampers: Stahlfred and Holzmichl also close softly, without loud slamming. This matters in densely built-up residential areas.
Connecting chain: The bin lid can open in sync with the box lid, so you only lift the lid and the waste bin underneath opens as well. With Stahlfred and Holzmichl, the connecting chain is included as standard. With Alubert, the box lid can also be connected to the bin lid. With Dagobert, you need the connecting chain from the accessories for this.
Water drainage: The Stahlfred lid is sloped at 2.5 degrees so that rainwater drains away in a controlled manner.
Two-sided installation: You can install the Dagobert lid so that it opens forwards or backwards, depending on how much space is available behind the box.
Lockable: Stahlfred and Holzmichl have a central lock for the lid and door. Dagobert comes with a toggle latch as standard; a key lock is available as an option. With Alubert, the lock is integrated into the handle. Please note: A Stahlfred with a lid mounted at the rear cannot be locked.

Alubert is the lightest line and the only one available exclusively with a hinged lid. If you want to keep the option of a plantable roof open, choose Dagobert, Stahlfred or Holzmichl. Anthracite RAL 7016 is the most affordable standard color across all lines; other RAL shades are available optionally for an additional charge. Hinged lid or planted roof: which roof option suits you?
The hinged lid is the pragmatic choice. It is lightweight, opens quickly, requires no maintenance, and is available for every range. If you use the box several times a day, this is the best option. In some shops, the same design is referred to as a hinged roof, so a garbage bin box with a hinged roof is exactly the same as a garbage bin box with a hinged lid.
The planting roof is the design-focused choice. It accommodates low-growing plants and makes the garbage bin box practically disappear into the garden. However, the box is taller, and the plants require care. With Dagobert, Stahlfred, and Holzmichl, you select the roof option directly when placing your order; Alubert is available exclusively with a hinged lid.
From the 1 box to the 6 boxes garbage bin box for 120- and 240-liter bins
Each line is available in six sizes. How many bins you need to accommodate depends on your municipality: residual waste, paper, organic waste, and the yellow recycling bin quickly add up to a 4 box garbage bin box.
You can choose from the 1 box garbage bin box, 2 boxes, 3 boxes, 4 boxes, 5 boxes, and 6 box garbage bin box, each for 120-liter or 240-liter bins. If you need both bin sizes side by side, ready-made combinations for 120 l and 240 l are available from Stahlfred and Holzmichl.
